In the Cornish town of Talting, everyone is famous for something.

Until recently Rose was known for many things: her infectious positivity; her unique artistic talent; and her devotion to childhood sweetheart Lucas.

But two years ago that changed in one unthinkable moment. Now, Rose is known for being the young woman who became a widow aged just twenty-four.

Though Rose knows that life must go on, the thought of carving out a new future for herself is one she can barely entertain. Until a newcomer, Robert, arrives in Talting for the summer… (Blurb courtesy of Amazon )

This book almost broke my heart. It is beautifully written and sad beyond belief. Rose has everything she has ever wanted in her husband Lucas and when he is tragically called in a road accident she loses everything in the blink of an eye. Without the love of her life by her side she feel she can no longer live the life she wants without him. She gives up her home, her painting and happiness.

I loved how this book was well and truly written from the heart. Such a lovely story with great flow and very easy to follow. I loved the relationship that Rose had with Emma her best friend. I kind of reminded me of my own best friend.

The story is tragic and poignant especially when Robert comes on the scene and there is twists and turns that you wouldn’t expect from a book like this. It was truly a heart-rending but charming read. Thank you to Netgalley and Headline for letting me read and review this book ahead of publication.
