One Folgate Street will change you! It will fix you as a person, make your relationship with you boyfriend better. It will give you back your independence and maybe even change you for the better… Or will it.
This book published by Quercus and out in February 2017 has already been signed to academy award winner Ron Howard. I had heard a limited amount of hype about this book on social media and by pure chance it ended up in my inbox yesterday. I accepted (more like snapped) at the chance to read a sampler of it, and Oh My Goodness was I sorry. Sorry because now I can’t wait to read the whole book.
Emma has been burgled and since that has not been able to settle anywhere so looks for a new place to live. When she views this extraordinary secluded Techno-minimalist house she instantly falls in love with both the place itself and the list of rules and regulations that come with it.
Fast forward a year and a bit and Jane, the new resident of Old Folgate Street is getting flowers left on her door step by a mysterious anonymous person. She too undertook the vast application procedure and the interview with Edward Monkon the architect, only to agree to the restrictive covenant in the same way as Emma once had, to move into this unusual place.
If the whole book is even half as good as the sampler, then we are in for a real treat. A gorgeous mix of psychology, the art of fate and deception. Definitely a book to keep your eyes peeled for.
